Webelos at Black Mountain

The webelos from Pack 178 came up for the weekend with us to stay at Ershigs Lodge - Black Mountain scout camp.    We retired approximately 9 worn and tattered US flags.   Weather was in the low 30's, cold, but no rain or snow.    The lodge had a wood stove that we kept fired up for the weekend.   It was a great place to stay.

Before ascent - Mt. Adams Troop 565

I took this self portrait at our base camp the evening before ascent. I was responsible for high-adventure outings for the troop and had gotten a couple of my old patrol members to come along for the required adult contingent. I think we allowed only 15 years and older to come along. In total we had about 9 of us go up to the top of Mt. Adams in SE Washington state. Of the few photographs that survive from this hike in the era of my analog photography, this is one of my favorites.

Webelos Camp Fire

The webelos had become too quiet as we sat around the fire, so I went out to look for them and caught this seen. They had learned how to make fires earlier in the day, and we all sitting around admiring their accomplishment.
